Developing technologies to contribute to
improvement of both the environmental performance
and comfort of trains

To support the high speeds of today's Shinkansen bullet trains, the materials used must be both light and strong. In response, backed by some of the best large-scale, hollow-extrusion manufacturing technology in Japan, the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Group has developed and manufactured an aluminum alloy double-skin structural material that is both light in weight and very strong. This double-skin structural material has a truss-shaped section formed using a combination of triangular shapes. Thanks to its strength, no struts are needed, freeing up space inside the car, and the hollow part can be filled with a damping material to reduce vibration, further contributing to interior comfort.
The field of application for our solution continues to expand, having been adopted not only for the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen bullet train lines but also for the Tohoku and Hokuriku Shinkansen. Our proprietary technical expertise has also contributed to the realization of all-aluminum cars for some trains on other lines.

High-precision extrusion technology

We use Japan's leading large-scale extrusion machines to manufacture structural materials for the Shinkansen bullet train, with its complex shapes and need for both thinness and precision.
